More about owner and head trainer, Sophie!
Sophie Titchen - Owner & Trainer
I’m Sophie and I’ve been into all things dogs since I can remember but got into training when I got my Labrador, Daphne, who is five.
I spent a year shadowing my trainer while studying for my PACT Canine Training Instructor course and then began to teach for myself. Before this I studied an Animal Care and then an extended Animal Management course at college and feel as though all of that has lead to this point where I am now.
I am an accredited PACT trainer https://www.pact-dogs.com/find-a-trainer and am registered on the ABTC ATI register. This means that through my training I follow their codes of practice, which you can find out more about on their websites.
I am constantly progressing my knowledge in my field and am currently studying a Canine Behaviour course as I love to know and understand the why behind the behaviours that I see. Progressing into the behaviour side of training will enhance my ability to help my clients and their dogs!
More about my dogs - I work my dogs on a small friendly pheasant shoot as Daphne has, since 2021, got me into Gundog training. I also have little Maggie, my latest team member, who is a fox red Lab youngster. Gundog breeds are my passion but I love to give every dog, and their owner, no matter their age or breed the best chance at success and most importantly teach them how to have fun while training! After all if we can’t enjoy our dogs then what is the point!
I sometimes have a foster dog on my team as well! Fostering consists of looking after dogs that will be going up for adoption, assessing them and doing any bits of training that I think will help them along the way. Volunteering for ‘Spaniel Aid’ and ‘Labradors in need’ in my free time is kind of my hobby - I do home checks, transport and dog assessments for these charities and love watching the dogs, that may have previously suffered, get a new lease of life!
How we differ from other dog trainers . . .
We train outside in the real world with the distraction of the environment rather than in a barn, village hall or other indoor venue where it’s all well and good training your dogs but if you can’t then apply that training to the distractions of daily life it’s not been worth your valuable time, effort and money.
Training for every level; from courses, our walk & train service to 1-2-1 sessions
Perfect Puppy —
The Basics course
It all begins somewhere!
For puppies between 2 and 6 months old to learn the basics in order to set them off on the right foot.
This service can be completed either during our ‘perfect puppy’ course or via five 1-2-1 sessions either at your home or out & about and will cover everything your young pup will need to know to take the leap into adolescence; from crucial life skills, general manners, basic cues and anything that pops up in between!
1-2-1 sessions — Personal & tailored!
Training tailored to your and your dogs specific needs and goals.
Dogs of any age or breed can succeed with the right techniques and understanding - set your dog up for success with their learning by choosing a trainer that has the patience, time and heart for them!
1-2-1 sessions are perfect for focusing on specific areas of concern whether that’s recall, lead walking, reactivity, breed specific outlets or maybe something else.
Walk & Train —
When you can’t, we will!
The perfect answer for those with a busy lifestyle.
Our Walk & Train service combines an hours walk with the tailored training that you might not have time to implement every day.
